Truck Drives Through Brick House in Beltzhoover, Injuring Local Resident

Sheesh. A SUV slams THROUGH a brick house in Beltzhoover neighborhood in Southside Pittsburgh, and PINNED a resident or visitor who was inside the house underneath the truck. Luckily, no one died.

Remember Pittsburgh drivers: When you're at the wheel, keep it between the lines. Else you'll end up in someone's living room along with a gaggle of police officers and first responders.

Ay yai yai.

One person was hospitalized early Monday after Pittsburgh police said a vehicle they were pursuing crashed into a house in Beltzhoover.

Police from Zone 3 said they had initiated a traffic stop around 3 a.m., when the driver fled from them “at a high rate of speed” down Michigan Street.

The driver hit a curb at the intersection of Michigan and Montooth streets, crashing into a residence in the 700 block of Montooth, police said.

A female inside the home was injured after being pinned under the car, police said. She was extricated and taken to an area hospital in stable condition.

Firefighters helped two other residents exit the home safely; they were not injured.

Police have one individual, who they did not identify, in custody. The investigation is ongoing.
