Car Crashes into Northside California-Kirkbride house, house condemned, driver trapped

From the Post-Gazette:

A house in the city’s California-Kirkbride neighborhood was condemned after a man crashed a car into it Wednesday, [October 28, 2020] according to Pittsburgh public safety spokesman Chris Togneri.

Debris from the three-story house trapped the driver after he was ejected from the vehicle, Mr. Togneri said.

Pittsburgh police, firefighters and emergency medical service personnel responded to the crash about 5 p.m. near the intersection of Brighton Road and Brighton Place.

First responders had to dig the driver, a 24-year-old man, out of the debris, Mr. Togneri said. He was being treated at a hospital.

Two people were inside the home when the crash occurred but were not injured, Mr. Togneri said.

The house’s back wall sustained major damage, and a city Department of Permits, Licenses and Inspections investigator condemned the residence, Mr. Togneri said. The American Red Cross was assisting the residents in finding shelter for the night, he said.

Police continued to investigate what caused the man to crash.

Pittsburgh Public Safety tweeted about the crash as well.

Hey hey, my my.
