Car Crashes into Home in Lincoln-Lemington Neighborhood, Nearly Killing Man on Couch

PITTSBURGH — A car slammed into a house late Monday night in Pittsburgh’s Lincoln-Lemington neighborhood moments after a man inside got off a couch.

The car crashed into the house about 11:30 p.m. after taking out a guide rail along Westmoreland Avenue.

“I was lying on the couch and my lady friend that was with me poured some water on me to wake me up. If she didn’t wake me up, that would have been me lying there. God is good, he looked out for me,” Lowry said.

The car ended up lodged in the living room, trapping him and his friend inside. Neither of them were hurt.

“My neighbor, thank God for my neighbor, kicked the door down and got us out, and I thank God for that,” Lowry said. Lowry said the driver and a passenger took off after pulling a child from the back seat of the car.
